Carrie Bradshaw Favourite Eyes Up High Street Collaboration

Donatella, Lanvin and Margiela and now Blahnik? High street collaborations with designers are on the rise and it seems the creator of Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding shoes might be joining the craze.

Manolo Blahnik has expressed an openness to the idea of a collaboration with a high street store. Blahnik told Vogue ‘If someone asked me to do high street and I really liked it, then why not?’ Providing the offer was ‘exciting’ and creative, Blahnik further added ‘But it would have to be a challenge, I don’t just want to do it for commerce or for business, I’ve never really been into money that way. But if it was something exciting and I could really collaborate with someone marvellous then yes, of course.’

Blahnik has previously collaborated with Kurt Geiger to sell a collection of his shoes exclusively in two British department stores, Harrods and Liberty. He worked with Victoria Beckham most recently, designing the shoes for her A/W 2013 collection which was shown at NYFW.

Although we can get a little bit excited, his niece, Kristina – who runs the business – has cast doubt on Manolo’s claim: ‘We do want to reach out to more customers. But we still want to keep things small and exclusive, and we don’t want to be everywhere. We won’t be looking at any further locations in the UK.’

For the moment, us girls will just have to dream.
