Get The Look: New-Age Androgyny

All you have to do is glance at the shop windows of the high street this season  to see the major trends to dig out and revive from the ol’ wardrobe: monochrome, midi lengths, neon flashes…

But there’s one trend in particular that has gradually been growing on us here at Gossipdrip, tempting us to move over to the comfy side of life and going all Ciara and ‘switiching up the roles’ with some tomboy threads.

Grunge chic was rife on the catwalks of LFW, and you only have to go as far as River Island’s newest designer, Rihanna, to see how she collaborated her own love of boyish pieces into her own ’90s chic collection for the high street brand.

The rise of BOY London and Trapstar as go-to casualwear brands for girls is also a reason behind this booming trend. With the likes of Jessie J and Rihanna loyal to the brand in their top-to-toe outfits (below), it gives us the chance to dress down like out fave celebs without the ridiculous price tags!

Beyonce has even been spotted in London brand Criminal Damage on her Instagram account, which follows the same tomboy-vibe of sweaters and loose-fit tees.

If you don’t fancy forking out for the brand hype, you can still nab the look with some of these low-cost accessories below. Just think: beanie, mock-look hi-tops, chain = Rihanna! Done.

Riri Goddess Tee from Missguided, £11.99 – get that tatt without the pain! Come here Rude Boy…

Black Turn-up ribbed Beanie from River Island, £8 – cover up those bad hair days whilst looking bad-ass the same time…

Half Coat Chain Collar from Topshop, £10 – work the two-tone look that’s big for SS13 now with a plain oversized slogan tee and leggings.

ASOS DENY Studded Wedge Trainers Suede Mix, £42 – slightly pricier, but get the same look without paying double for a sports brand– PLUS it has a built in wedge. Win-win!
