It’s finally happening: Kate Middleton is in labour!

The Duchess of Cambridge was this morning admitted to St. Mary’s hospital, in the ‘early stages of labour’ according to a royal correspondent.

Kate has been admitted to the Lindo wing– the same ward that Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William and Prince Harry.

The couple’s first child will be the third in line to the throne, whether it is a boy or girl, thanks to the recent changes in the law.

The world’s press has been camped outside Buckingham Palace and St. Mary’s hospital in the build-up to the birth, which was expected to be born on July 13th. Since Kate arrived by car with her husband this morning, all eyes have been on the Lindo hospital wing door.

It is expected that Palace officials will reveal that the birth has taken place when a royal aide emerges from the hospital with a signed bulletin carrying the Buckingham Palace letterhead. The bulletin (which will feature the gender, weight and time of birth) will be given to an official who will be driven to Buckingham Palace, where it will be posted on an easel in public view in front of the building.

Today, Twitter has been inundated with #RoyalBaby news with celebrities and media tweeting everything from their excitement to potential names- with Charlotte or Victoria and James or George being favourites.

We at Gossipdrip can’t wait to welcome the new Royal baby, so come on Kate- push!!
