Jake Bugg covers Oasis hit for Radio 1

Almost anybody who has been close to a radio, TV  or record shop in the past 10 years or so will have heard the classic hits of  Oasis- and if you haven’t- where on earth have you been?!  The Manc band who are poster-boys for lad rock have enjoyed successes throughout the years with their instantly recognizable hits inspiring up and coming singers and bands along the way.

Boy of the moment Jake Bugg has often cited the Gallagher brothers as a source of inspiration for his musical direction and now he’s paid homage to Liam and Noel by covering their hit track, Slide Away, for Radio 1. Although in typical Radio 1 Live lounge style this is a cover with a twist…

Bugg appeared on the station as it invites each act nominated for the British Breakthrough Act at this years Brit Awards to perform each day this week. Bugg was the second artist to appear following Ben Howard’s turn on Monday (February 11). Alt-J, Jessie Ware and Rita Ora will also be appearing, each one performing a cover of a previous Brit Award winner.

After performing his new single ‘Seen It All’, Bugg spoke to host Sara Cox about his decision to cover the ‘Definitely Maybe’ album track, and said: “Hopefully the song might sound alright but it could all go wrong.”

What do you make of Jake’s folky take on this guitar led tune?
