Twenty-one-year-old singer/songwriter Lucy Spraggan has officially quit The X Factor due to ill health. After missing last weeks show, the competitor felt accepting a free pass a second week in a row would be unfair on the other contenders. A spokesperson for The X Factor confirms ‘Lucy isn’t well enough to perform this weekend so she has decided to withdraw from the competition.’

Her mentor Tulisa has expressed her sadness, but has wished her all the best in the future and offered her assistance. All the remaining competitors, especially close friend Rylan Clark who dedicated his performance to her, are said to be saddened by her departure.

Lucy won’t however be replaced on the show, leaving the final eight to battle it out. The girl’s mentor Tulisa, is left with one remaining act and favourite to win, Ella Henderson.
