THE GREAT GATSBY CANNES PREMIERE: Fashion Round Up

Posted by: on May 16, 2013 | 2 Comments

We give you quick a round up of the hottest looks at the year’s hottest premiere.

Carey Mulligan, star of ‘Gatsby’ was also the star of last night’s premiere in this divine Dior dress made from delicate duchesse satin. Carey had previously wowed crowds earlier on in the day at a photo call. Is there no stopping this girl?! And can we have her wardrobe?!

l-r: Cara Delevigne, Georgia May Jagger, Eva Cavalli

Model of the moment, Cara Delevigne added some edge to the event rocking up in a Burberry lace dress – custom made for her, obv. She smouldered in front of the camera and was keen to show her Choppard jewellery by pointing at them while posing for the camera! Seeing Cara dressed up is definitely a change we LOVE.

Cara’s BFF and future housemate, Georgia May Jagger cleverly matched her lip colour to her beautiful Roberto Cavalli dress. Meanwhile  Roberto Cavalli’s wife, Eva Cavalli arrived in a cool tuxedo and proved you don’t need to wear a dress to look good!

l-r: Isla Fisher, Nicole Kidman, Freida Pinto

Isla Fisher, Nicole Kidman and Freida Pinto brightened up the rather damp affair with some cute and girly frocks. Freida’s choice was from Gucci. The flowing chiffon added a touch of elegance to the look. She teamed this up with a stunning beaded belt and jewels from Choppard.

Isla Fisher managed to pull off a frilly frock without looking like a doilley – impressive! The gown was from Oscar de la Renta, say no more! Nicole Kidman shocked by not actually wearing the play-it-safe LBD. Nicole showed she’s still capable of wearing fun and girly clothing by wearing this charming Dior dress, adorned with exploding flowers and teamed with bubblegum pink heels. Cute!

l-r: Zhang Yuqi, Lana Del Rey

Surprise hits of the night came from Zhang Yuqi and Lana Del Rey. “Zhang Yuqi…erm, who?!” we hear you ask! Zhang, also known as Kitty, is a Chinese actress starring in, erm, no films we’ve actually heard of. So we might not know much about her but we do know she can rock a gown. This particular number is designed by Ulyana Sergeenko – a shopper turned fashion designer, sounds like our kind of carreer path!

Sultry songstress, Lana Del Rey showed off her gorgeous new mid length locks. Although the perfectly coiffed ‘do did look more 50s movie star than 1920s flapper girl chic, who cares when it looks THAT good!

AND THE NOT-SO-HOTS…

It wouldn’t be a film premiere without a few fashion fails so here you go!

l-r:Zhang Ziyi, Florence Welch

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi gets it all right with make up and hair – a flawless face and a cute crop. Then we go to the neck down – WHAT HAPPENED? It’s not a major fashion disaster but we can’t help but think she must have felt a little under dressed in this Dior top and trousers combo!

Meanwhile Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine was looking Ew-Ew in Miu Miu. A pink polka dot dress mixed with yellow T bar heels. This outfit is more Mr. Blobby than Mr. Gatsby!

What are your favourite looks from the premiere?
