The winner of The Voice UK was announced on Saturday night, crowning Leanne Mitchell the first winner of the show and most importantly giving the singer a record contract.

Mitchell, 28, from Lowestoft stole the show with the performances ‘It’s A Man’s Man’s World’ and her duet with Tom Jones of ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’.

The other finalists also performed with their coaches, with Bruce singing ‘Read All About It’ by Professor Green and Emeli Sande with O’Donoghue, and Kidd and Jessie J singing her hit ‘Nobody’s Perfect’. Will.i.am also took to the stage with Tyler James to sing ‘OMG’, his previous collaboration with Usher.

Leanne was a singer for holiday camp singer before the show, and at a young age was close to signing a record deal.

After the winner was named, Leanne’s judge Tom Jones said that ‘this confirms there was justice in the world’.

The show’s finale reached a disappointing 4.5 million viewers which has almost halved since the show began.

Performances of the night also included Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran.
