Avengers Assemble: REVIEW

The Avengers sequel has been announced this week and the highly anticipated movie is continuing to rack up the ratings at the box office. The question of why the Marvel movie has been so popular is answered not simply by the interesting collaboration of the six superhumans, but by the the fact that they have mixed the odd group together in a way where each character shines, though some may argue that The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) does so a tad brighter than the others.

What is so good about Avengers Assemble is that unlike lots of movies in the cinema at the moment, Avengers Assemble does not rehash a recognisable and predictable storyline. It brings together some of the best characters that Marvel has to offer working them into a film which connects the dots to the films which came before it. Fans had been teased by Nick Fury(Samuel L Jackson) popping up in films such as Thor, Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger, so it is great to see Fury’s role fully in action.

Marvel fans will have their favourites, which undoubtedly aids to the success of the film as each character is shown doing what they are known for, and then some. So if you’re expecting witty one liners from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Loud roars from The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and rippling muscles from Thor(Chris Hemsworth), you won’t be disappointed.

Unexpectedly, there is a lot of humour in the film which makes for a surprisingly lighthearted break from the special effects and action sequences. Newbies, Black Widow( Scarlett Johansson)  and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) have a brief backstory which has been added into the plot but admittedly, it does lack conviction.

So if you still haven’t been to see it and you’re wondering whether it really is worth all the hype, the answer is yes. It really is.
