British Boyband JLS Split!

Former X-Factor boyband, JLS , took to twitter early this morning to announce that the band were sadly splitting up after 5 years together.

The four-piece released a statement saying:

“To each and every JLSter, our beloved fans around the world. We wanted to make sure that you heard it from the four of us, that we have decided to bring our time as a band to an end. It has been the most incredible journey over the last 6 years and we have achieved more things than we could have ever dreamed possible. Thanks to all of you guys, your support, your dedication and your love, you have changed our lives forever and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you.”

The news has come as a shock to many of their fans, however the band have said that they will be finishing their last album “Goodbye- The Greatest Hits” with a farewell tour.

Despite coming second on the hit ITV show to Alexandra Burke, the band have enjoyed 5 number one singles, including Beat Again and Everybody in Love, won two Brit Awards and sold over 10 million records.

According to the statement, the band are now planning on continuing “to work on the JLS Foundation after our split, as we want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for great causes and our partner Cancer Research UK. We also want to continue the legacy that we started 3 years ago with the Foundation and we hope that you always continue to support that.”

The band members Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams,  J.B. Gill and Aston Merrygold left individual thank you messages on their group twitter @JLSofficial.
