Girls Aloud set to release greatest hits ahead of their comeback tour!

After a quiet couple of years pursuing various solo careers Sarah, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola and Cheryl have reunited once more to reform Girls Aloud. The girls (well, women now) are back with their first single since 2009 which goes by the very fitting title of ‘Something New’. The single has been chosen to mark the anniversary of Girls Aloud’s appearance on Popstars: The Rivals, which was an unbelievable ten years ago.

A decade may of passed but the girls are looking better than ever, each of them wearing a matching orange puffball dress in the video for ‘Something New’ and looking predictably stunning. The music is pretty damn good too, the song oozes girl power with lyrics such as ‘we girls gonna run this’ and ‘we’re the leaders of the pack’. For me this is Girls Aloud at their best, a fiery upbeat song that’s as good for having a little sing to on the radio as it is to dance your socks off in a club.

Of course no girl band comeback is complete without a compilation album and a UK tour. The album ‘Ten’ will be released on November 26, featuring a number of their most popular hits such as ‘The Promise’, ‘Biology’ and their first ever number one ‘Sound of the Underground’. Fans will be pleased to know ‘Ten’ is also set to feature four brand new tracks including ‘Something New’, ‘Every Now And Then’, ‘On The Metro’ and ‘Beautiful ‘Cause You Love Me’. A two-disc edition of ‘Ten’ is also to be released, featuring  ten songs as voted for by fans on the Girls Aloud official website.

The 12 date UK arena tour kicks off on February 21st 2013 in Newcastle (Cheryl’s hometown no less) and finishes in Liverpool on March 21st. General sale for tickets begins at 9am on Thursday 26th October.

As  a self confessed Girls Aloud fan and a proud member of the Cheryl Cole fan club I am more than happy to see the return of arguably the most significant girl band of contemporary times.

Something New is set to be released on the 18th of November, and I predict it find a more than comfortable spot in the Top 10 Singles Chart.
