H&M has confirmed its latest designer collaboration for AW12 as French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela. The infamously mysterious and avant-garde design house is hooking up with H&M for the upcoming season.

‘Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this radical collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela,’ says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M. ‘This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment.’

While MMM had this to say about the unusual partnership; ‘We are very happy to present Maison Martin Margiela pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision (…) We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.’

The collaboration comes after a history of H&M collections with world famous brands, from the recent Marni and Versace capsule collections to Jimmy Choo. These pieces always prove to be must haves and instant sell outs.

The industry is already abuzz with the prospect of the chance to buy Margiela at H&M prices. So what can the fashion masses expect? Margiela have confirmed that the range will include garments and accessories for both men (which will make their most famous fan Kanye West happy- he referenced their jackets on the recent ‘Watch the Throne’ album) and women, launching in around 230 stores and online from November 15.

Well, I hope that they will make a high street priced version of the cult ‘Tabi’ shoes…
