PREVIEW: Rihanna Diamonds World Tour 2013 Hits The UK!

As Cardiff City Centre was shut down by an influx of hyped-up fans of the hottest girl of the moment, we knew this wasn’t just any old stop for the star’s famous Diamonds World Tour.

Rihanna’s stop at the Welsh capital was her first show on the UK leg of her tour, and after a killer opening with Phresh Out The Runway, a cheeky remix of Birthday cake, Cockiness (Love It) and a crowd-gearing Talk That Talk in one of her sheer and gold Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy tour outfits, she let the crowd know that she was “finally” back where she belonged! We hear you, Rih!

Rih wowed the screaming stadium with an impressive track list which infused tracks from her no. 1 album, Unapologetic, with some of the pop-reggae hits from her last two albums, Loud and Talk That Talk.
Those wanting to see some old-school tracks from the Barbadian beauty will not be disappointed, as Rih treated us to Please Don’t Stop The Music and everybody’s love-hate song, Umbrella (which even saw some brollies being elevated in the crowd!) More show-stopping additions were some fire cannons for some up-beat tunes like Jump, some eye-catching graphics and air-guitar-provoking riffs for the Rockstar 101 set and some fitting lasers for the Calvin Harris produced We Found Love.

Fans can also expect some truly gut-wrenching renditions of What Now, Take a Bow and Hate That I Love You, as the star dons a sultry red two-piece ensemble (which is very reminiscent of her own collection for River Island!) that flashes her signature Nefertiti tattoo. Rih also introduced the songs with some frank admissions about love and suggestive lyric switches to make for a very intimate performance for a stadium show.

The encore was what the crowd has been waiting for, as Rihanna returned on stage in the most jaw-dropping outfit of the night — fitting to the dazzling renditions of Stay and Diamonds that she performed. The stadium erupted for the chorus of her hit Mikky Ekko duet, and as she closed the show with the namesake of her tour it was doubtless that even the most indifferent fan of Rihanna’s music left as a convert to the #Navy.

Those of you going to see her following UK tour dates in Manchester, London, Birmingham and Sunderland this month, you will not be disappointed!
