Review: Girls Aloud Ten – The Hits Tour 2013, LG Arena Birmingham

Wednesday arrived, and was it just another boring mid-week evening?! It certainly wasn’t, because that night I was partying with Cheryl, Nadine, Sarah, Kimberley and Nicola: five lovely ladies you may know from a certain band called Girls Aloud!

Here at Gossipdrip we love a bit of girl power and couldn’t resist the opportunity to see five of our favourite ladies back on stage strutting their stuff!

Their three year break seems to have lasted a life time with each member remaining in the spotlight with solo tasks; whether it be Strictly Come Dancing, a solo album, the X Factor or creating a makeup brand, these ladies certainly know how to keep themselves busy and looking gorgeous at the same time!

The support act for the evening came in the form of Amelia Lilly (who found fame on the X Factor) and credit where credit is due, the girl can sing!

Girls Aloud opened their show with of course their first single which charted at number one way back in 2002, ‘Sound of the Underground’, after flying in from the air on a huge ‘Girls Aloud’ platform. They continued the rest of the show pretty much in order of their song releases. There was something for everyone; gorgeous costumes, a couple of ballads, songs to definitely get your groove on to, a cover of ‘Call Me Maybe’ and some rather handsome male dancers which were very easy on the eye….

Half way through, the girls came in to the middle of the arena so we could get a closer look and performed more fantastic hits including ‘Call the Shots’.

The night ended brilliantly and I must say they saved two crackers for their encore! ‘I’ll stand by you’ (yes, we did all get a little emotional at this point….) and the single that gave them their first Brit Award, ‘The Promise’.

Whether you are a downright open and proud fan, or Girls Aloud are your guilty pleasure, you can’t help but sing along and of course strut your stuff a little, as well as be in awe of how flipping gorgeous they all are!

Ladies, a fantastic evening. 10 years of great hits, and please keep them coming!
