URBAN OUTFITTERS IS IN TROUBLE WITH NAVAJO DEBATE

Urban Outfitters have sparked fury with a line of Native American-inspired clothing and accessories. Critics of ‘Navajo’ fashion have stated that that Urban Outfitters’ 21-strong range of Navajo branded items, including clothing, bracelets, plimsoles, a hipflash and pants, is culturally insensitive. They claim that this isn’t fashion but merely a distasteful and racist act.

In the video below the ‘trend for cute Native American clothes’ is mocked and ends with the suggestion that concentration camp striped pyjamas may be next in line for the catwalk.

Our opinion? How ridiculous. Urban Outfitters is clearly celebrating Native American design, not trying to undermine it. God help Urban Outfitters’ critics if they were to ever spend a night out with the Geordie Shore girls; perhaps then they would see how dressing inappropriately may cause ‘offense’.
