We are extremely saddened to report that a true legend, Whitney Houston, has died.

The news that Whitney Houston has died reached us in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 12th February 2012) and has shocked many around the world.

The I Will Always Love You singer was aged just 48 years old at the time of her death, and had been seen in recent times to be acting out of control.

According to ABC News, Whitney’s publicist Kristen Foster had confirmed that the star had passed away, although the cause and location of her death was unknown.

The singer and The Bodyguard actress was known worldwide for her elegance and show-stopping voice and the music industry mourns for another loss of talent taken away too soon, following Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse.

Her untimely death also comes as an extra shock to many, being confirmed less than 24 hours away from the Grammy’s- undoubtedly the world’s biggest music event.

Throughout her career Houston was seen to be a woman of great talent. Not only with her powerful and breath-taking voice, but with her poise and elegance that made her stand out from the crowd.

She enjoyed many hits and number one albums and went from success to success, with hits such as Queen of The Night, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Saving All My Love for You. Her career also took her into acting and she starred in the classic 1992 film The Bodyguard alongside Kevin Costner.

A woman of incredible talent, she was born to gospel singer Cissy Houston who was famed for her ability to hit the high notes, and Whitney spent her childhood with the likes of her cousin Dionne Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin. She inspired the likes of Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey in their careers and will forever be remembered as the Queen of Pop.

In recent years her life had sadly spiralled out of control and she openly admitted to struggling with her “demons”. Her marriage and subsequent divorce to singer Bobby Brown was devastating for the star, and she admitted to abusing drugs such as marijuana and cocaine following a series of erratic and out-of-character public appearances.

Paparazzi snapped the singer last night emerging from a club looking dishevelled with blood on her legs, although it is yet unknown what happened between the time of these photos and her death.

The power ballad singer was one of the greatest artists of all time.

Rest in peace Whitney Houston.
